Year 7 Textiles – Project Journals This project should aim to introduce year 7 pupils to basic art textile practices in preparation for developing their skills to KS4.

They will explore a number of practices as well as developing their own independent thinking and designing skills.

In May students complete a 10 hour exam piece which is a final piece realised from the exam board at that time.

All students in Key Stage 3 have the opportunity to study Textiles.

The felt donut project introduces pupils to British artists such as Katie Essam and Kate Talbot Pupils are continually assessed through each project by self, peer and group assessment as well as a final piece which incorporates all the skills previously learnt.

These three projects were chosen to support the transition onto GCSE textiles.

The personal investigation project allows students to independently research and study artists, an area of fashion or a theme or concept that interests them and produce reflective practical work based on this.

Trip have included The Knitting and Stitching Show and The Clothes Show.

We introduce the students to a wide range of techniques in their coursework to ensure that they have the confidence to choose their own individual textiles direction in preparation for their practical exam in Year 11.

Trips have included V& A Museum, Brighton Pavilion and New Designer’s exhibition in London.
